What we do

We work at the point between new generation and reliable use: storing energy, controlling it and delivering it when it is needed.

One-line diagram of a battery storage system: battery, inverter, switchgear, transformer, then the connection to the grid and the site. Battery Inverter Switchgear Transformer Grid Site
A storage system drawn as a one-line diagram, the way it appears on an electrical plan: battery, inverter, switchgear, transformer, and the connection to the grid and the site. We specify every part of this line and coordinate its delivery, using equipment from whichever manufacturers suit the project.

From assessment to service

  1. Stage 1

    Assess and size

We start with how the site uses power and work out what the system needs to do.

    • Site and utility bill analysis
    • Load profiling and backup requirements
    • System sizing and project economics
  2. Stage 2

    Select and source

We compare products across manufacturers and source to the project’s requirements.

    • Technology and product selection
    • Specification and supplier review
    • Procurement, supply chain and logistics
  3. Stage 3

    Engineer and build

We deliver the build through our engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner, with responsibilities defined in the contract.

    • System engineering and design
    • EPC coordination
    • Installation supervision
    • Solar and backup generation integration
  4. Stage 4

    Commission and service

We bring the system online and stay with it afterward.

    • Testing and commissioning
    • Handover documentation
    • Maintenance and ongoing service

Where storage fits

From a single backup battery to containerized utility storage, for private and public customers.

Multi-site operators
Our relationships give us access to operators with many locations, such as car-wash chains and health clubs. A first project tests the approach at one site. Each further location then gets its own analysis, because every site’s tariff and load are different.
Commercial, industrial and microgrid
Storage sized for a single facility or a microgrid, from a retail site to a factory or cold-storage warehouse. Typical uses are cutting peak demand charges, shifting solar output into the evening, and carrying critical loads through an outage.
Utility and grid scale
Containerized systems sized in megawatt-hours for utilities, power producers and project developers. Typical uses are peak shaving, load smoothing, demand response and firming wind and solar generation.
AI and data centers
Storage and backup for data centers, where new computing load needs firm, well-managed power.
Government and public sector
Federal, state, municipal and tribal facilities that need resilient power, including battery storage and solar-powered street lighting. We serve this market through our partner, which is SDVOSB and HUBZone certified.
Telecom and critical infrastructure
Backup power for towers and communications networks, sized to carry critical equipment through an outage.
Motive power and equipment
Batteries for forklifts, carts and other electric equipment, including replacing older lead-acid fleets.
Home solar
Battery storage paired with rooftop solar, so a home can use more of its own solar power after dark and keep selected circuits running during an outage.

Our alliances

We work through partners who know their customers and their markets.

Government

SDVOSB partnership

We have a strategic alliance with a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that is SDVOSB and HUBZone certified. Those certifications allow our partner to compete for eligible federal set-aside contracts. State eligibility depends on the applicable program. Mutant provides the battery and engineering support to our partner.

Commercial property

SmartGrid Western

SmartGrid Western develops and manages battery storage for commercial properties and brings us projects from its customers. We work with it as battery and engineering partner.

Financing

Project finance

We work with a clean energy finance platform that funds battery storage and solar lighting projects. For projects that qualify, the customer can install a system with no upfront capital.

How financing works

International

South America

We are working with partners in Brazil to bring battery storage to commercial, telecom and grid customers across South America.
